Our Founder

When he’s not blowing bubbles with his grandchildren, Jerome Licari is doing stuff like inventing Wellness NOW^®

That’s right the Wellness NOW^® formula was created by an ordinary grandfather who has dedicated his professional life to the health and nutritional concerns of families like yours.

In his nearly 40 years of experience in the fields of food technology and clinical nutrition – which took him from the Research & Development divisions of Beech Nut, Inc., to pharmaceutical giant Novartis -- he has been the driving force behind numerous industry innovations

After receiving his Ph.d. in Food Science and Technology from Cornell University, Jerome joined Beech Nut, Inc., where he was the brains behind industry advances such as revolutionary packaging (taking baby juice out of cans and putting it in bottles), the elimination of unneeded salt and sugar from baby foods and the development of a staged feeding plan – all hallmarks of infant nutrition to this day.

As Director of Product & Clinical Development at Sandoz, he led the development of the use of specific nutrients to improve patient immune response and spearheaded efforts to document health benefits of disease-specific nutritional therapies in clinical studies.

With that rich background and a desire to make a real difference in health, Jerome set out on his own in 1995. As founder and president of Onesta Nutrition, he developed and patented FiberChoice^®, the chewable fiber tablet, a breakthrough in the soluble fiber market.

Jerome then set his sights on solving a more personal problem: how to get rid of nagging, chronic sinus infections. He started using a beta glucan supplement and discovered that after several winters, his infections had disappeared. Knowing he had hit on something and wanting to bring that discovery to a broad market, Jerome developed Wellness NOW, the first product marketed by his new company Immune Alert.
